Applicability of the WASP Model in an Assessment of the Impact of Anthropogenic Pollution on Water Quality—Dunajec River Case Study

This article covers the analysis of impact agricultural and municipal pollution on surface waters in a selected pilot section Dunajec River Poland. The was performed using dynamic Water Quality Analysis Simulation Program (WASP) model. operational use WASP allows assessment current future changes water quality planning measures to reduce adverse impacts waters. Based acquired processed data, model simulated pollutant supply section. simulations were carried out three developed scenarios. results spread pollutants riverbed show that adopted scenarios, including an increased unfavorable hydrological conditions, will not adversely affect operation efficiency intake. Thus considered cases, risk reach unacceptable level. However, serious threat may be caused by failure sewage treatment plant located vicinity conducted analyses indicate have significant application potential for intakes.
